Julie turned towards acupuncture in 2005 after a series of anaphylactic shocks revealed numerous food allergies. Her allergist in Quebec told her that she was a lost cause; she was so allergic that she couldn’t even receive allergy injections. As a professional cook, Julie was determined to find a solution. She had heard that acupuncture could help. Twelve treatments later, to her delight and to the amazement of her allergist, Julie was once again able to eat 15 out of the 16 foods previously forbidden to her.
Filled with a burning desire to help others who might find themselves in situations as discouraging and seemingly hopeless as hers, Julie threw herself into the study of acupuncture at the International Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Ottawa, Ontario. She graduated from the 2100 hours program in 2012 and established Access Acupuncture in Cornwall with her husband. After finding that her daughter was diagnosed with Celiac disease, she started to focus on pediatrics and founded Access Acupuncture Kids – a clinic for kids. After seven years of successful practice, Julie and her family moved to Nova Scotia and opened a clinic in Dartmouth, where she now practices.
