One Pin Acupuncture Challenge Held at Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth, NS
On May 21, 2023, Julie Saint-Pierre hosted the One Pin Acupuncture Challenge at the “Live Well, Be Well” gathering at the Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth, NS. The event was a fundraiser for the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia, and included both free and pay-what you-can events such as Yoga, meditation, personal training, sound therapy and acupuncture.
The event took place in the afternoon, and mall-goers were invited to participate in any activity they wished.
A treat(ment) for patients, a challenge for herself
Julie offered free treatments for pain with her One Pin Acupuncture challenge. The challenge was to try and provide measurable pain relief with just one acupuncture needle. For every extra pin that Julie used, she would donate $1 towards the fundraiser. Participants were invited to donate as well, which they generously did!
Overall, Julie used an average of 3 needles per treatment, with a success rate of 90%!
Balance Method Acupuncture
“This level of success rate is common when Balance Method acupuncture is used,” said Julie after the event. “It’s the method we use every week at our clinic in Burnside. We’re the only certified Balance Method Acupuncturists in Nova Scotia, but we hope that more acupuncturists will start learning and using the Balance Method so that more people get to experience its benefits.”
Asked about when the next One Pin Acupuncture Challenge would be, Julie replied “Right now we know for sure that one will take place at the SaltScapes Christmas Expo, but if other opportunities present themselves over the summer, we might be able to do more.”
Julie owns and operates Access Acupuncture in Dartmouth, NS along with her husband, who is also an acupuncturist. She is registered with the Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of Nova Scotia (ATCMANS).
